Phillip M. Randall, PhD, CPG, Managing Partner at The Thorndyke Group, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in human resources.
Backed by more than 35 years of professional expertise in the human resources industry, Dr. Randall has flourished as the managing partner of The Thorndyke Group, a people consultancy committed to individual and organizational effectiveness. Specializing in organizational development and executive coaching, he has worked closely to design and implement large scale strategic change and leadership development initiatives with hundreds of corporate and organizational executives in for and non-profit enterprises worldwide. In addition, Dr. Randall has been with Capella University as an adjunct professor since 2004 and a member of the Institutional Review Board and dissertation mentor since 2012. Likewise, Dr. Randall is also a member of the board of directors for LearnLong Institute for Education and Learning Research, Chicago, IL and the Board of Governors, Accreditation for Gerontology Education Council, Washington, DC.
Finding great success in his career, Dr. Randall is the recipient of several awards and recognition, namely the Governor’s Commendation by the State of Georgia, the Key to the City of Youngstown, Ohio and named Outstanding Citizen by the Ohio House of Representatives. In addition, he was the recipient of the Bright Idea Award from Harvard University’s Innovations in Government, as well as granted Capella University’s Stephen Shank Recognition for significant contribution to learner success in 2013-2020. Notably, Capella University recently bestowed upon him the Excellence Award in Scholarship and Research for 2020 and 2021 and the Outstanding Faculty of the Year Award, School of Business and for 2020 and 2021.
Dr. Randall earned a Bachelor of Science from Youngstown State University in 1968 and a Master of Science from the University of Michigan in 1974. That same year, he became a specialist in aging, going on to achieve a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Akron in 1987. Additionally, Dr. Randall became a certified professional gerontologist in 2020 and is an Adjunct Fellow at the Institute of LifeSpan Development and Gerontology, The University of Akron and a Fellow, Education Policy Fellow Program, Co-sponsored by the Institute of Educational Leadership, Washington, DC. Looking toward the future, Dr. Randall plans to continue his work and creating the idea around the whole person-planning model.
Prior to his current feats, Dr. Randall gained exceptional experience as a contractor with PwC Consulting in 2010 and 2011 and as director in the Department of Human Resources for the State of Georgia from 2004 to 2011. Between 1997 and 2004, he excelled as vice president of human resources for Northeast Utilities, Inc., vice president of learning services for Alcatel, vice president of people and reward for Cereva Networks, and senior vice president of administration and OE for WorldSpace Corporation. Even earlier, between 1983 and 1997, Dr. Randall had been director, education and training for The Hay Group, director of training and development for the Rockefeller Group, manager of training and development for Hewlett Packard Enterprise, corporate vice president of organizational development for Nortel Networks and vice president and business partner, human resources for Unysis Corporation.
