David A. Leighty, Retired Group Acquisition Executive, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in environmental quality.
Mr. Leighty became involved in his profession due to his desire to push the limits of analytical chemistry to be able to improve detection limits and make it possible for environmental monitoring. Deeply passionate and interested in the environment, he went on to attain a Bachelor of Science in chemistry and management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1971. Mr. Leighty remained involved with his alma mater in his professional career, as he was a past interviewer for applicants from 2002 to 2007. Notably, he was selected as one of the two best students in science at Westinghouse in the state of Ohio.
Most recently in his four-decade-long career, Mr. Leighty worked for Halma PLC in Amersham, United Kingdom for 26 years as a group acquisition executive until commencing his retirement in 2018. After serving as president of one of its companies, Perma Pure, from 1992 to 2007, he moved to the parent holding company to pursue acquisitions of new companies. Responsible for entrepreneurial growth and innovation, he found great success in his executive-level role. To remain abreast of his industry today, Mr. Leighty maintains affiliation with the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Society of Applied Spectroscopy and the American Chemical Society.
Mr. Leighty previously gained experience as vice president of CSPI from 1987 to 1992. Focusing on promotional and product development marketing, he held three positions turning his five-year tenure including vice president of marketing for all computer products and vice president for scanalytics, a start-up business venture of the parent company. Prior, Mr. Leighty served Thermo Jarrell-Ash as international marketing manager from 1977 to 1986. In this role, he recruited, trained, motivated and supported a network of distributors in countries worldwide, while holding eight positions of progressively higher responsibility during his one-decade tenure.
