Raymond J. Struyk, PhD, Consultant and Fellow at Results for Development Institute, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in economics.
Upon attaining a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Quincy College in 1965, Dr. Struyk discovered his interest in research and urban economics. In 1968, he obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in economics from Washington University and subsequently joined the National Bureau of Economic Research as a research associate. After serving in Vietnam with the U.S. Army in 1970 and 1971, Dr. Struyk restarted his career as a visiting professor of economics at Rice University and a senior research associate at the Urban Institute. He went on to offer his knowledge to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development as a deputy assistant secretary for research of the Office of Policy Development and Research from 1977 to 1979. Returning to the Urban Institute, he was a senior research associate, director of the Center for Housing and Community Development Research and senior fellow between 1980 and 2006.
Finding his niche in economics and policy, Dr. Struyk flourished as the founding director of the Center for International Activities from 1983 to 1993 and as resident director of the Housing Sector Reform Project from 1992 to 1998. He had also been chief of party of Chemonics International in 2006 and 2007 and a senior fellow of NORC at the University of Chicago from 2007 to 2012. Presently, Dr. Struyk excels as a senior advisor of the China Think Tank Research and Evaluation Center of Nanjing University since 2016 and a consultant and fellow of the Results for Development Institute since 2012. A contributor to numerous professional journals and articles, he attributes his success to his experience in government. Alongside his primary roles, Dr. Struyk holds membership with various esteemed organizations including the Gulf Opinions Center for Polls and Statistics Kuwait, Mongolian Institute for Policy Advancement and Legal Policy Research Center Almalty.
