Donté L. Gibbs, Manager of Community Outreach at Cleveland Museum of Natural History, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in community outreach.
Matriculating at Case Western Reserve University, Mr. Gibbs earned a Bachelor of Arts in sociology in 2010 and a Master of Science in social science administration and a certificate in nonprofit management in 2012. From a young age, he recalls his grandmother’s community service work with food banks, which inspired him to serve his community in a similar fashion. Still residing in East Cleveland, he works to live up to his grandmother’s mission each day. In his first professional role, Mr. Gibbs was a youth engagement director with the Neighborhood Theater Institute from 2012 to 2017. From 2017 to 2019, he was a fellow at the George Gund Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio.
Since 2019, Mr. Gibbs has flourished in his role as the manager of community outreach at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. Dedicated to leading community projects, he works across departments launching and implementing community initiatives, building partnerships and developing internal and external engagement strategies. Since commencing his role, the Cleveland Museum rose from a 47 percent to a 55 percent retention rate with the museum pass. Notably, Mr. Gibbs was named the Radio One Cleveland Future History Maker and the Cleveland City Champion by the Guardian, Plain Dealer and Ideastream in 2019. He was also the recipient of the Louis Stokes Community Leadership Award and the 2018 Young Alumni Award from his alma mater. Mr. Gibbs continued to live up to his legacy throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, as he donated more than 77,000 reusable masks to those in need.
