Gary R. Carlin, Owner, Chief Executive Officer and President at the Law Offices of Gary R. Carlin, APC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in employment and labor law.
Having accrued 50 years of experience practicing law, Mr. Carlin is renowned for his skill in employment and labor law litigation involving wrongful termination, demotion, suspension, denial of a promotion, sexual harassment, wage and hour issues, denied meal and rest breaks and unpaid overtime. Establishing his own practice in 1977, he has guided the Law Offices of Gary R. Carlin to become one of the largest and most respected employment litigation firms in Southern California. To attest to his success, Mr. Carlin has obtained verdicts, judgments, awards and settlements of cases at a present value of more than $100,000,000 for his clients. Notably, he holds an AV-Preeminent Rating from Martindale-Hubbell. He attributes his success to having a big heart and wanting to help others in difficult situations, as his initial desire to become a lawyer came from watching his father be taken advantage of by his employer.
Mr. Carlin received a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of California, Los Angeles and obtained a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of California Hastings College of Law in 1970. Following law school, he worked at the Law Offices of C. Ransom Samuelson for seven years, the first attorney to ever obtain a jury verdict in excess of $100,000 in Los Angeles County. He later became a partner at the firm before establishing his practice in 1977 and was also a partner at Carlin & Buchsbaum LLP from 2004 to 2020. Presently, Mr. Carlin holds membership with the California Employment Lawyers Association, State Bar of California’s Labor and Employment Law Section, Los Angeles County Bar Association and Long Beach Bar Association. Looking toward the future, he plans to turn his practice over to someone younger, faster and fresher. In the meantime, he is excited to continue guiding his clients, as well as his pro bono clients, to justice.
