James “Brother Ralph” Easterwood, Pastor Emeritus at Glen Haven Baptist Church, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in religious services.

Reflecting on his professional path, Mr. Easterwood credits his upbringing and the influence of his Christian faith for who he has become today. Upon joining the Glen Haven Baptist Church in 1947, he dedicated the entirety of his career to the church in various roles, including as a choir director in 1951. From there, he flourished as an associate pastor from 1967 to 1983 and senior pastor from 1983 until commencing his retirement in 2010. Mr. Easterwood was honored with the title of a pastor emeritus in 2010.

In addition to his responsibilities at church, Mr. Easterwood has been an instructor on behalf of the Grace Bible Class since 2020 and began offering his services as a chaplain to the Henry County Police Department in 2005. Notably, he has been named as the Chaplain of the Year on nine separate occasions, which he cites as a highlight of his career. Mr. Easterwood was also the winner of the Beef Calf Chain from the Decatur Rotary Club, as well as the recipient of awards from the 4-H Club.

Finding great success throughout the course of his career, Mr. Easterwood had been featured in numerous publications, including the Henry County Times, Southern Journal Magazine, Celebrity Chef Magazine and H Magazine Biz. Likewise, he is the author of “I Remember American When” and participated in the Glen Haven TV Ministry. Supported by coursework from Georgia State University, Mr. Easterwood commenced his professional career working with the U.S. Postal Service.

Alongside his exceptional career accomplishments, Mr. Easterwood is most proud to have married his wife, Gwen Easterwood, in 1953. Since then, they have had five children and were later blessed with 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was Mr. Easterwood’s secretary in the church for more than 40 years and cites the secret to a happy and long marriage is to “not sweat the small stuff.”
