Donna L. Collier, Immediate Past Chairwoman at National Environmental Banking Association, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in environmental protection.
In a career dedicated to environmental protection and sustainability, Ms. Collier embarked upon her path upon purchasing a Louisiana Pacific sawmill site, with the intention of eventually establishing a golf course. However, the Corps of Engineers suggested the development of a federally approved wetland mitigation bank, which she accepted, believing that environmental restoration was better aligned with her philosophy. Since 2006, Ms. Collier has excelled as the managing partner of Valencia Wetlands Trust, as well as the chairperson of the National Environmental Banking Association from 2017 to 2022. In this capacity, the association represents hundreds of businesses across the United States committed to high standards for ecological restoration and the preservation of wetlands and natural habitats using environmental banks.
In addition to her primary role as the immediate past chairwoman, Ms. Collier has been active on the leadership council of the National Small Business Association since 2016. She previously served the National Mitigation Banking Association as a board member, treasurer and secretary between 2013 and 2017. Reflecting on her career thus far, Ms. Collier considers her most notable achievement to be all of her contributions and efforts in protecting the environment. To date, she has captured more than three million wildlife photographs during environmental restorations.
Ms. Collier attributes her success to never quitting, and hopes to commence work on another bank within the next five years. Her advice to those looking to enter the field is to keep learning and do not quit, as experience is the best tool one can have in environmental protection. Throughout the course of her career, Ms. Collier has lived by the maxim; “Leave the world a better place.”
