James D. Waldemarson, Retired Financial Products Specialist for the United States Internal Revenue Service, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in financial services.

For more than 32 years, Mr. Waldemarson worked for the United States Internal Revenue Service as a financial products specialist. A talented mathematics student, Mr. Waldemarson did not consider a career in accounting until the last semester of his senior year of high school. He had briefly harbored some aspirations of becoming a teacher until his school librarian gave him college catalogs and career brochures about becoming a CPA. Mr. Waldemarson earned a Bachelor of Arts in accounting from Pennsylvania State University in 1968 and continued his studies with a Master of Business Administration in finance from Gannon University in 1977.

Mr. Waldemarson became a Certified Public Accountant in 1977 and spent several years as a staff auditor with Coopers & Lybrand before joining the Internal Revenue Service, where he would spend the rest of his career. He continued to learn, becoming a Certified Management Accountant in 1983 and a Chartered Global Management Accountant in 2012, and attributes much of his success to working harder than others around him and committing to his goals. During his time with the IRS, Mr. Waldemarson developed a reputation for expertise in computer languages and programming in addition to working on corporate tax audits.

As a part of his commitment to the community, Mr. Waldemarson donated extensive pro bono accounting work to area nonprofits and individuals. He spent many years active in the Erie County chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants and considers the three years he spent as president and treasurer of the chapter to be a personal highlight. In addition to his leadership, Mr. Waldemarson developed a website for the group and served as webmaster for nearly five years. In his retirement, Mr. Waldemarson continues to live by his motto to take each day as it comes and strives to be a good citizen and good person wherever possible.
