Backed by more than four decades of experience in quality assurance and engineering, Mr. Carpenter has excelled as the lead auditor and chief executive officer of the Carpenter Services Group, Inc. since 2002. Renowned in the aerospace, management and quality industry, he previously served Honeywell Technical Solutions Inc. as a technical specialist and quality systems auditor from 1999 to 2002 and CIBA Composite Materials as a quality engineering trainer from 1990 to 1992. Earlier, between 1975 and 1990, Mr. Carpenter worked in similar roles for Aeronutronic Ford Corporation, McDonnel Douglas Astronautics, Interstate Electronics Corporation, Whittaker Command and Control System, Inc., Aerojet Electrosystems/Precision Weapons and Tekforce.
Mr. Carpenter received an Associate of Arts in quality assurance from Coastline Community College and a Bachelor of Science in industrial technology from the California State University, Long Beach. In 1993, he attained a Master of Science in quality assurance from the California State University, Dominguez Hills, where he later taught. Since then, Mr. Carpenter has been the recipient of various accolades, including the Lifetime Achievement Award for Distinguished Service in the Quality Profession in Southern California from the Orange Empire of American Society for Quality. He also took home an Excellence Award from Boeing Commercial Airplane and was named Student of the Year by the Los Angeles Section of the American Society for Quality. Attributing his success to his exceptional communication skills, he is most proud of his efforts in streamlining the nonconformance system, saving 20 percent of the existing cycle time, and co-authoring “How to Plan an Audit,” published in 1998. In addition, Mr. Carpenter notably served in the U.S. Marine Corps as an aircraft engine mechanic in El Toro, California from 1969 to 1975.
