James P. Hruza, Assistant Vice President at First Federal, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in loan services.
Since 2018, Mr. Hruza has served as a loan officer and the assistant vice president at First Federal, building on nearly four decades in the financial services sector. An expert in home loans, including construction and renovation loans and refinancing, he has spent much of his career advocating for clients and helping them navigate the often-challenging world of home financing. A graduate of the State University of New York at Potsdam, Mr. Hruza completed a Bachelor of Arts in economics and sociology in 1982. Initially a sociology major, he eventually turned his focus toward helping families find homes and building sustainable communities.
Prior to beginning his career with First Federal, Mr. Hruza spent four years as the vice president and regional sales manager at Boston Private Bank, where he worked alongside his mentor, Jim Harvey. In 2013, he joined Sterling Bank’s Home Loan Division as a sales manager, and departed during the following year to become a private mortgage banker with Wells Fargo, where he remained until 2016, when he was named as the senior real estate loan officer at Peoples Bank of Washington. Mr. Hruza continued to rise at Peoples Bank of Washington until 2018, when he accepted his current role at First Federal.
As an advocate for clients at every step of the home financing process, Mr. Hruza is a member of the citizens advisory board of the Regional Coalition of Housing and serves as the legislative chair of the Washington State Association of Mortgage Brokers, where he assisted in writing the state Mortgage Broker Practice Act. In recognition of his contributions to the field, he is a two-time recipient of the Washington Association of Mortgage Brokers President’s Award and a former state chair of the organization. In his personal time, Mr. Hruza is a certified emergency responder and a high school softball coach.
