Vic H. Brown, President and Director of Coaching at Texas Lightning Soccer Club & Academy, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in athletics.
Mr. Brown oversees the coaching staff and helps the staff put together the curriculum for age-specific soccer training programs for the boys and girls. He oversees camps and clinics and sets up a curriculum for that. He is in contact with collegiate coaches for the tournaments they put together and helps the kids with their college placement. He has been the president and director of coaching at the Texas Lightning Soccer Club & Academy since 1992. Before starting his career, he earned an Associate of Arts from The University of Texas at Arlington in 1977.
Mr. Brown is most proud of the fact that they were still standing after all those years and they have helped place about 400 kids in college, both boys and girls. They have also produced five national team players, as well as a handful of professional soccer players. Another highlight of his was when the club housed the Brazilian Women’s National Soccer Team, while they were getting ready for the World Cup in 2004. That was a big deal. While they were there, they put on personal clinics and the girls got to meet the team. They also put on an exhibition game in Arlington against Oklahoma State University, which was televised. About three to five thousand people attended. Mr. Brown wants to continue growing. A majority of their staff were former players that have now settled back into the areas they lived in and are now coaching. He wants continued professional growth and wants to eventually slow down a bit but not walk away completely.
