Dr. Vicki A. Dr. Brown benefits from the accumulated experience of more than two and a half decades of excellence in the field of organizational leadership. Specializing in transformative learning, she presently serves as the chief learning officer and executive director of the Office of Strategic Employee and Organization Development at the U.S. Department of the Interior. In this capacity, Dr. Brown is responsible for executive development, management and oversight of departmental training and leadership development across a workforce of more than 70,000 employees. Outside of her work at the Department of the Interior, she maintained involvement as the director of talent development at the U.S. Department of Defense from 2015 until 2019, where she previously worked as the acting executive director of HR strategic programs.
Dr. Brown’s exemplary performance has largely been driven by her experiences in the U.S. Army, for which she served in various positions of high authority. Among them, she excelled as the chief of civilian training and leadership development for the G-3 Training Directorate from 2007 until 2015, a supervisory executive officer for the Office of the Deputy Undersecretary between 2007 and 2008 and the chief of the Army Family Enrichment Division at the U.S. Army Morale, Welfare and Recreation Command from 1995 to 2007. Dr. Brown also distinguished herself in the field of education as an adjunct professor at Strayer University from 2001 until 2011 and The George Washington University in 2016.
Prior to embarking upon her professional journey, Dr. Brown sought a formal education at the West Virginia State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in education. Likewise, she received a Master of Science in educational leadership at Georgia Southern University, a Master of Science in strategic studies at the United States Army War College and a Doctor of Education in executive leadership at the George Washington University. Well regarded for her subsequent performance in the field, she has been bestowed with a number of accolades, including the Training Innovation and Creativity Award, the Ralph Stone Award for Leadership and Scholarship and the Spirit of Service Award, among many others. Likewise, Dr. Brown was featured on the cover of DyNAMC Diversity Magazine, through which she was interviewed for her dedication to learning and leadership in 2016.
