Frank Marcario Canizales MSW, Director of Social Services at Tuolumne Me-Wuk Tribal Council, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in social work.
Growing up as a child in the 1950’s Mr. Marcario would go with his aunt to the welfare office and he saw the way American Indians were being treated. That experience made him determined to help people as well as the members of his Tribe. To get on his path to his career, Mr. Marcario earned a Bachelor of Arts at Fresno State University in 1968. He then received a Master of Arts in social work from the University of California Sacramento in 1982.
Mr. Marcario believes the Highlight of his career was working at University of California Davis in a program with people from many deserving backgrounds and cultures. He was a social worker while there from 1991 to 2014. He also worked as a management analyst at the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Indian Affairs from 1971 to 2021. He currently holds the role of director of social services at Tuolumne Me-Wuk Tribal Council, where he has been since 2014. He wants to continue helping and assist people for the rest of his life.
As a testament to his success, Mr. Marcario was named Employee of the Year by the Indian Health Service of Washington D.C. He was also named Employee of the Year by the Indian Health Service Sacramento Field Office. Since 1968, Mr. Marcario has been a member of the Me-Wuk Tribal Council. He wants to help make sure that the tribe is treated fairly.
