Title: Advance Planning Manager
Company: Camino Del Sol Funeral Chapel & Cremation Center
Location: Sun City West, Arizona, United States
Karen L. Darby-Ritz, an Advance Planning Manager at Camino Del Sol Funeral Chapel & Cremation Center, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of funeral service.
Ms. Darby-Ritz has earned distinction for her eight years of service on behalf of her family business, the Camino Del Sol Funeral Chapel and Cremation Center. Based in Sun City West, Arizona, the funeral home offers personalized service on behalf of grieving families who are enduring the most challenging point of their lives. Ms. Darby-Ritz has served as the advance planning and community relations manager since 2012.
Prior to her work with the funeral home, Mr. Darby-Ritz found success as a teacher for more than three decades. Throughout the course of her career in education, she maintained involvement as a special education teacher, counselor and department chair, and primarily specialized in teaching children living with disabilities. By the time she retired from the academic profession in 2012, Ms. Darby-Ritz had become well versed in working with families who are experiencing emotional turmoil. To commemorate her accomplishments, she notably won the Teacher of the Year Award in 2012, and received the Kellis Award for Excellence in Education.
Ms. Darby-Ritz initially became involved in her profession due to the influence of her family, which has garnered a laudable reputation for more than four generations in the funeral home industry. After graduating from high school and college – during which time she earned a Master of Arts at Northern Arizona University in 1998 – she decided to teach, rather than become involved with the family business. However, following her retirement from education, Ms. Darby-Ritz began to work full-time alongside her family.
Long dedicated to civic advocacy, Ms. Darby-Ritz dedicated herself to her community as the president of both the Sun City West Alliance of Business and Community and the Children’s Charity of the Arizona Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Association. Moreover, she volunteers on behalf of Eve’s Place Inc., a nonprofit organization that seeks to provide support for people suffering from domestic or sexual abuse. As a commitment to her field, Ms. Darby-Ritz has been active with several organizations relevant to her industry, including the National Funeral Directors Association and the Cremation National Association.
