Dr. Khanna attributes his success to hard work, devotion, intelligence, and always some luck. Before embarking on his career, he matriculated at Delhi University in India. While there, he earned a Master of Science in 1967 and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1970. In 1974, he moved to the United States and continued with his education, taking postgraduate coursework at Columbia University from 1974 to 1977.
Dr. Khanna’s career highlight was being part of clinical diagnostics and the discoveries he has made. He commenced his career as an assistant professor at Delhi University from 1971 to 1974. From 1977 to 1986, he went from research chemist to assistant director of research at Syva/Syntex. He then became the vice president of research and development at Microgenics Corp. from 1986 to 1995. The following three years, Dr. Khanna was the general manager of Boehringer Mannheim/Roche. From there, he joined Microgenics New, becoming the president and chief executive officer from 1998 to 1999. In 2000, he became the chairman of the board of directors, founder, president and chief executive officer of Discover X Corporation, where he remained until 2017. Since 2017, he has been a private investor for Biotech Companies. As a testament to his success, Dr. Khanna received a Gold Medal from the President of India two times and a Bronze Medal from Syntex in 1986.
