Russell E. Gorsline, Production Company Executive at Sunny Day Productions, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in production.
Mr. Gorsline always loved radio. In high school, the Portland public school had a radio station that started out as a station for the high school. It was taken over by the school district and was used for class supplemental learning for school days. He really enjoyed the eclectic content, which was not only music. He worked at the high school station and this is how he started his involvement in the industry. He earned a Bachelor of Science in music from Lewis and Clark College in 1965.
Mr. Gorsline’s career highlight was working on three projects that have gotten onto the shortlist of 10 and in the short documentaries category that were nominated for the Academy Awards. He has done the audio mix for a few documentaries and movies. He worked on a documentary called Life Boat, which is about people escaping and trying to get to Europe. Life Boat was one of the five films that were nominated for an Academy Award for short documentaries. He worked on other films and documentaries on Middle East that was listed twice for the shortlist and one that was nominated. Since 1969, he has served as the general manager of Rex Recording Co. and since 1972, he has been the president of Sunny Day Productions. Previously he was a recording engineer for Northwestern, Inc. from 1967 to 1969 and a producer and recording engineer for Station KBPS from 1965 to 1967. As a testament to his success, Mr. Gorsline has received the OMPA Award of Excellence in 2013, Clio Award, Addy Award, named Best in the West, Rosy Award and a Telly Award. He has also been named Supplier of the Year by Portland Advertising Federation in 1998 and 1999. He was also listed in multiple editions of Who’s Who in Entertainment, Who’s Who in the Media and Communication, Who’s Who in the West and Who’s Who in the World.
