Sergeant Robert Charles Meier, Sergeant at the Massachusetts State Police and Investigator at Amica Mutual Insurance Company, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in law enforcement.
Inspired to pursue a career in public service since his formative years, Mr. Meier commenced his career working for the town of Barnstable, Massachusetts on Cape Cod as a police officer during the summers of 1968, 1969 and 1970. He graduated from the Massachusetts State Police Academy in September of 1971 and would go on to serve a 27-year career with the Massachusetts State Police. During his tenure, Mr. Meier rose through the ranks from sergeant to commander, patrol supervisor, corporal and road trooper in the crime prevention and control unit and major crime unit.
Mr. Meier graduated from Salem State College in 1970 with a Bachelor’s degree in business education. Following his graduation, he was hired by the Silver Lake Regional High School system to teach in the business department at the high school for the 1970-1971 school year. Later, in 1983, he achieved a Master of Arts in criminal justice from Anna Maria College. Mr. Meier left the state police force in 1998, at which time he joined Amica Mutual Insurance Company as an investigator of insurance fraud, which he did through 2010. Today, he serves as acting deputy governor of the Massachusetts Society of Mayflower Descendants.
Finding great success throughout the course of his career, Mr. Meier was the recipient of a Letter from a Colonel commending on all work done for a 27-year career with the Massachusetts State Police. He was also offered a Letter of Thanks from State Senator Matthew J. Amorello and a Letter of Accommodation in 1983. Mr. Meier attributes his success to his father for instilling a strong work ethic in him, as he was taught to do a complete job, along with his determination to find the underlying cause of something. Looking ahead, Mr. Meier plans to continue living my his mottos, His mottos are “Always be on the side of God and on side of the law” and “Do on to others as you would have them on to you.”
