Tor Dahl, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and Owner of Tor Dahl & Associates and Founder and Chairman of Extensor Corporation, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in business and economics.
With more than 50 years of professional experience to his credit, Dr. Dahl has served the Extensor Corporation as the founder and chairman since 1973, and has acted as chairman, chief executive officer and owner of Tor Dahl & Associates since 1976. For more than 40 years, from 1967 to 2008, he was an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota, and from 1988 to 2001 he contributed as chairman emeritus of the World Confederation of Productivity Science. In addition, Dr. Dahl served the confederation’s Project on Vinland as chairman emeritus from 1975 to 2001.
In addition to his primary professional responsibilities, Dr. Dahl has held many additional positions throughout his long and accomplished career. Acting as a speaker and consultant in his field, he was the founder and a board member of the Vinland National Center, founder of the World Academy of Productivity Science, and an economist for the Minnesota Hospital Association. From 1967 to 1973, he was the co-founder, vice president, and director of research for Minnesota Systems Research, Inc., and in 1992 he co-founded Bjelland, Dahl & Partners, now doing business as The Performance Group.
To prepare for his career pursuits, Dr. Dahl pursued an education at numerous institutions of higher learning. After being commissioned in management and logistics by the Army Officer Candidate School in Norway in 1958, he earned a commerce diploma in accounting, management, economics, and language in 1959. In 1962, Dr. Dahl graduated with a Master of Business Administration from the Norwegian University’s School of Economics and Business, and in 1965 he received a Master of Arts in economics from the University of Minnesota. He concluded his academic efforts with a Doctor of Philosophy in statistics and psychology from the University of Minnesota in 1967.
Dr. Dahl has been a keynote speaker at the World Productivity Congress, the World Future Society, among other international conferences. He is also a prolific author and contributor to numerous publications and professional journals. He is a captain in the United States Army Reserve and has been recognized on numerous occasions for his career accomplishments. Dr. Dahl was an honoree for contributions to the field of the World Confederation of Productivity Science in 2001, and received the 25th Anniversary Award for Best Article from Hospital Financial Management in 1971. In 1965, he was recognized with a National Kazanjian Award for Outstanding College Teaching, and he has been the recipient of multiple scholarships, including the Fulbright Scholarship in 1962. In his free time, Dr. Dahl enjoys hiking and skiing.
