For more than a decade, Ms. Armand has specialized in laboratory software and information systems with a focus on diagnostic technologies for medical and scientific applications. Her interest in the field was inspired by a guest lecturer in a biochemistry class that she was taking at the University of Texas. Interested in the potential of the field and beginning to burn out on academia, Ms. Armand completed a Bachelor of Science in medical technology at the University of Texas and a second Bachelor of Science in genetics at Texas A&M University before beginning her career in a hospital laboratory. In 2005, she became an automotive service and diagnostic systems manager for Abbott Laboratories, transitioning into the vendor side of laboratory medicine.
Ms. Armand left Abbott Laboratories in 2009 to join Beckman Coulter, where she spent six years as a system implementation manager before rising to a software implementation manager role. Since 2016, she has been a software and interface support manager with Grifols Diagnostic Solutions, where her work centers on accurate reporting and posting of blood and plasma test results. Ms. Armand holds a Six Sigma Black Belt credential, is certified as a medical technologist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology and is the co-author of “Reagent Carryover Studies: Preventing Analytical Error with Open Clinical Chemistry Systems,” 2005.
In addition to her work in laboratory medicine, Ms. Armand is passionate about animal rescue, serving as the executive director and adoption coordinator for the Dallas Fort Worth Labrador Retriever Rescue and the foster coordinator for Texas Sporting Breed Rescue, Inc. She attributes her success to hard work and her dedication to saving the lives of homeless dogs, and looks forward to continuing to foster animals and to her continuing professional growth.
