Robbie J. Messmer, retired plant supervisor at RT Communications Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in communications.
For over 30 years, Mr. Messmer enjoyed a career as a network technician and supervisor building communications networks throughout the Western United States. His passion for electronics started at a young age, and as a teenager, Mr. Messmer enjoyed installing car stereos for friends. He graduated from Western Dakota Tech in 1985 with an Associate’s degree in electronics technology and began his career in communications the same year as a network technician for the West River Telephone Cooperative Telephone Company. Mr. Messmer spent the next eleven years with the company, rising to become an area foreman by the end of his tenure.
Mr. Messmer joined RT Communications in 1997, spending five years as a network technology specialist before becoming a company supervisor and chair of the transmission team. During his time with RT Communications, Mr. Messmer led the development and construction of the company’s network infrastructure across Wyoming, South Dakota, and Utah, and was known for his skill in employee management and working with clients, particularly his talent for managing delicate customer service interactions. In 2015, Mr. Messmer was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, and in 2018, he retired from his career in telecom in order to take a more active role in his healthcare.
Since his retirement, Mr. Messmer has lost more than 100 pounds and developed a workout regimen that has delayed the progression of his Parkinson’s Disease and cured his kidney disease, hypertension, and diabetes. He is a volunteer health coach and a member of the Thought Team, Supplement Approval Team, and Bariatrics Group at Monument Health, and hopes to share his fitness journey with others. Mr. Messmer has been presented with certificates of recognition from Monument Health and the Spearfish Bariatric Program for his contributions, and he looks forward to continuing to help others empower themselves through fitness.
