With more than 30 years of practiced expertise in the areas of employee training development, talent management and organizational design, Mr. Lofton parlays years of experience in fostering equity and inclusion to his role as a senior manufacturing training specialist with KBI Biopharma. Bearing more than two decades of employment in the pharmaceutical industry, he previously served as a senior learning associate for Biogen from 2018 until 2021, an employee development coordinator and inclusion specialist for Merck between 2007 and 2018, a training manager at BioMerieux from 2005 to 2007 and, during his initial work with Biogen, as a technical trainer between 2001 and 2005. Prior to his work in pharmaceuticals, Mr. Lofton maintained involvement with Ajinomoto as a purification foreman from 1989 until 2001, during which time he monitored employees for safety compliance and wrote performance evaluations.
Long dedicated to providing an equal opportunity space for employees to thrive, Mr. Lofton initially became involved in working with people with disabilities after serving as a surrogate father for two young girls. In a career suffused with highlights, he is most proud to have successfully managed a disability summit while working with Biogen, which hosted several significant conversations regarding neurodiversity. Well regarded for his accomplishments, Mr. Lofton was recognized with a Leader in Diversity Honor from the Triangle Business Journal in 2020, as well as an Elements CEO Award for Inclusion and Pioneering during the same year. Likewise, he was bestowed with a “Pay it Forward” award from the former president of manufacturing at Merck, Willie A. Deese, in 2018.
