Dr. Pastor Joan A. Polidore, Christian counselor, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in counseling.
Dr. Polidore is a nurse, counselor, and ordained chaplain focusing her career on providing Christian counseling since 2016. Born in Dominica, Dr. Polidore came to the United States in 1979 and began working at the Holly Patterson Geriatric Center in 1983 as a nurse. Deeply spiritual and motivated by a desire to help others heal, she has found herself consistently called to professions that give her the chance to work with and support others in times of crisis. Dr. Polidore left the Holly Patterson Geriatric Center in 2000 to establish Agape Ministry and Christian Academy, where she remained as Director until 2015, providing administrative and counseling services to students. During these years, Dr. Polidore was also active in continuing her own education. After completing an Associate of Arts in early childhood education at Empire State College in 1999, she was awarded a Bachelor of Arts in theology the following year by Vision International.
She pursued postgraduate studies at Southwest Bible College and Seminary in the early 2010s, earning a Master of Divinity in 2013 and her Doctor of Philosophy in Christian counseling in 2015. Motivated by what she described as a great need for counseling services and a great number of people and relationships in pain, Dr. Polidore established her counseling practice the following year, specializing in marriage counseling and working with victims of domestic abuse and child abuse. She has worked with the Christian Chaplain Association of America to minister and offer temporary housing to people leaving jail, and she hopes to have the opportunity to expand the scope of her counseling services in the coming years. In addition to her counseling work, Dr. Polidore is the Director of the Youth Advocate Center, Dean of the Bible school at the Abundant Life Ministry, and a volunteer with DBS. She has published two books, “The Ministry of Hospitality,” 2016, and “The Influential Women,” 2021. In recognition of her outreach and commitment to serving others in the community, Dr. Polidore has been presented with a citation by the county government, and a Certificate of Perseverance by the Healing Foundation.
