Mark Mallory Zinn, ITS Applications Specialist at Southern Lighting and Traffic Systems, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in traffic signal maintenance.
Mr. Zinn has spent more than 30 years specializing in intersection control and maintenance of traffic signals. He holds an International Municipal Signal Association Traffic Signal Electrician Level III, the highest credential in the industry, and describes the job as “part electrician, part engineer.” Mr. Zinn graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in economics in 1987 and joined the Intersection Development Corporation as an account manager in 1991, following his father into the industry. He remained with Intersection Development Corporation until 1996, rising to become a regional sales manager before joining Peek Traffic Corporation in 1997 as a customer support manager. After five years with Peek Traffic Corporation, Mr. Zinn was a systems support engineer with AECOM Systems Integration Group from 2002 until 2004, and a systems product manager for Econolite until 2009.
In 2009, Mr. Zinn accepted his current position as an ITS applications specialist for Southern Lighting and Traffic Systems, where he draws on his information technology background to manage data from traffic lights and vehicle counts to ensure appropriate traffic signal timing. The job has allowed him to travel around the world, and he has visited Singapore, Australia, China, Israel, and Kuwait as well as several European nations in the course of his work. He is active in several professional organizations including the Southern District Institute of Transportation Engineers, the Gulf Region Intelligent Transportation Society, and the Georgia Intelligent Transportation Society, and enjoys staying on the leading edge of developments and changes in the field. He attributes his success to the influence of his many mentors and looks forward to beginning to train someone to take over his position when he retires. Outside of his work, Mr. Zinn is a youth wrestling coach for North Society High School and a small group leader for Brownsbridge Church, and the proud parent of two daughters.
