Kevin McCurley, Founder of New England Reptile Distributors, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in exotic animal breeding.
During his childhood, Mr. McCurley held a strong passion and love for animals, particularly snakes. After he graduated from college, during which he studied computer electronics and programming, he served Majoring Instruments of the Environment (MIE) as a senior electronic technician for five years. Highly skilled in his profession, Mr. McCurley yearned for something more suited to his passion and decided to take the leap in opening New England Reptile Distributors in Plaistow, New Hampshire in 1994.
For the past 27 years, Mr. McCurley has bred and raised unique, one-of-a-kind, individual animals that cannot be found anywhere else. Today, New England Reptile Distributors has the largest collection of captive-bred, hand-reared Ball Pythons, Reticulated Pythons, Blood & Short-Tail Pythons, Boas, and Colubrids available for sale in the Northeast. They also offer water monitors, other monitors, and tegus, skinks, geckos, and many other rare and unique species.
In addition, Mr. McCurley is also the owner of Zoo Creatures in Plaistow, New Hampshire. Notably, Zoo Creatures is the largest exotic and unique pet store and pet resource in New England boasting a 12,000-gallon aquarium showroom stocked with freshwater fish and hand-fed, socialized reptiles, amphibians and other animals. Mr. McCurley is also a current member of the United States Association of Reptile Keepers.
Reflecting on his career thus far, Mr. McCurley cites his most notable achievement is the commercialization of ball python genetics, as they produced more color and pattern mutations than anywhere in the world in terms of snakes. In five years’ time, he aims to continue advocating for education about proper care and display of fish and reptiles, while working toward teaching people empathy toward animals. Mr. McCurley attributes his success to being very detail-oriented, along with a love for animals of all kinds.
