Marilyn M. Neal, Executive Director at Neighborhood Service Center Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in human services.
For more than 10 years, Ms. Neal has served as the executive director of the Neighborhood Service Center Inc., a nonprofit agency that supports elderly resident and low-income families in Talbot County, Maryland. An important part of her work with the agency involves providing housing and rent assistance to clients, and she considers one of her greatest accomplishments to be providing safe and stable living environments for 23 people on the edge of homelessness. Ms. Neal credits her family with inspiring her to pursue work in human services, and is most proud to have dedicated her life to helping others.
Prior to joining the Neighborhood Service Center Inc., Ms. Neal was a community outreach liaison for the Eastern Shore Cancer Research Network, and worked as a private duty nurse from 2004 until 2008. Between 2003 and 2005, she was a program specialist for Channel Marker Inc., following a long career with Maryland Plastics Inc. Ms. Neal began her career with Maryland Plastics in 1978 and advanced from a plant manager and assistant to the vice president, through which she gained the business skills that would assure her success in the nonprofit sector when she left in 2003, inspired to pursue more meaningful work after the death of her mother.
As an advocate for at-risk community members, Ms. Neal is the vice president of the Maryland Community Action Partnership, a member of the board of the Easton Economic Development Corporation, and a member of the Talbot County Task Forces for Education, Housing and COVID Support. Furthermore, she is an active volunteer for area food and school supply drives, as well as holiday meal programs.
Ms. Neal has been honored by Shore Magazine as a COVID Community Responder and listed as a 2021 COVID Warrior. Furthermore, she was honored with the Delmarva African American Pride Magazine 2020 Outstanding Achievers Award, and was nominated as a Woman to Watch for 2021, among many other accolades. In accounting for her standout success, Ms. Neal credits her ability to invest a great deal of care and effort into everything she does. Looking toward the future, she aspires to continue working on behalf of others for as long as she is able.
