Riyad Shamma, Executive Director at Institute Of Youth Development And Excellence, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in youth services and nonprofit management.

Since 2007, Mr. Shamma has served as the Executive Director of the Institute of Youth Development and Excellence, an organization dedicated to running mentoring programs for local youth and providing training for potential mentors. As Executive Director, Mr. Shamma manages the administrative and logistical aspects of running the organization, as well as taking a hands-on approach to developing training materials and working with mentors. An alum of the University of Cincinnati, Mr. Shamma earned a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering in 1992 and a Master of Industrial Engineering in 1995. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in leadership at Xavier University.

Mr. Shamma has dedicated much of his life to working with youth, describing it as an area where “even a little effort can yield such tremendous results.” He cites the rise in depression, anxiety, substance use, and youth suicide as signs that teens and young adults are in need of role models, social support, and resources. Mr. Shamma hopes to help the youth involved in his programs to find success and reach their full potential and considers his work developing mentor training materials to be one of his greatest accomplishments. He hopes to expand his programming across the United States and into countries like Brazil and Turkey in the coming years. In addition to his leadership of the Institute of Youth Development and Excellence, Mr. Shamma works with the World Wildlife Federation, 8billiontrees.org, and has been presented with an award for his contributions to the Council of America Sonic Relations.
