David George

Title: President
Company: Woman’s Missionary Union Foundation
Location: Bessemer, Alabama, United States

David George, President of the Woman’s Missionary Union Foundation, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in non-profit management.

Backed by more than 35 years of experience in his professional endeavors, Mr. George currently excels as the president of the Woman’s Missionary Union Foundation, a role he commenced in 2002. In his position, he helps to secure funds for Baptist mission efforts by managing endowments, estate planning, and scholarships while also providing funding for state organizations and working closely with donors and grant recipients. Throughout his career, Mr. George has been incredibly proud of his work with the Woman’s Missionary Union Foundation over the past 20 years, which now offers $2 million per year in grants.

Mr. George earned a Bachelor of Arts in public affairs and political science from Samford University in 1981, followed by a Master’s degree in international affairs from George Washington University in 1983. He began his career on Capitol Hill working for a U.S. Senator from Alabama for two years, with the intention to remain in the state department, but instead found success as the president of the American Mental Health Fund, which has since now merged with the National Mental Health Association, from 1983 to 1990. From 1990 to 2001, he worked in health care and insurance consulting. Upon reflection, he attributes his success to the guidance of Jack Hinkley, the founder of the American Mental Health Fund, as well as his father’s efforts instilling in him a strong work ethic. In his spare time, Mr. George enjoys spending quality time with his wife, Allyson, their two children, and one (soon to be) grandchild.

His son, Kyle David George is the Executive Associate Athletic Director at Troy University in Alabama and he is married to Lynne Firmin George, an adjunct professor at Troy University and head of the IdeaBank in Troy. Mr. George’s daughter, Katelyn George Bruhn is the Director of Corporate Development for EasterSeals of the Birmingham area (AL), and her husband is Glover “Mitchell” Bruhn Jr., who is a Project Manager for Brian’s Flooring & Design. Nearly a decade ago, Mr. George’s wife Allyson was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. To help make her life meaningful and enjoyable, they have added two professional caregivers, Kesha Williams and Latasha Collins, who have become members of their family. Mr. George’s family means everything to him, which is why he and his family are focused on Alzheimer’s research into the future.
