Lawrence Chapoy, PhD, Founder and President at HPM Company, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in scientific research.
Upon earning a Bachelor of Science from Seton Hall University, Dr. Chapoy went on to matriculate at Princeton University, where he attained a Master of Science in chemistry in 1965 and a Doctor of Philosophy in chemistry in 1969. A research fellow at the Svedberg Laboratory of Uppsala University in Sweden, she went on to be a lector of chemical engineering and material science at the Technical University of Denmark through 1986. From 1986 to 1993, he was responsible for polymer liquid crystal development and a product development manager at Montedison, going on to excel as vice president of R&D at Wesley Jessen/CIBA Vision until 2001.
After spending time as a consultant, Dr. Chapoy has flourished as the owner of a plastics consulting company, since 2001, as well as the founder and president of HPM Company. Notably, HPM Company is a consulting company, which consults on medical devices for ophthalmology. Presently, he holds membership with the Chicago Chapter of the International Executive Resources Group Leadership Committee, American Chemical Society, American Physical Society, Society of the Claw, Society of Rheology and Sigma Xi. Mr. Chapoy attributes his success to being a little bit of a risk-taker, as he notes not many people in his field tend to have the trait. Looking ahead, he aims to continue working to develop an intro ocular lens for people with cataracts.
