David Pierce Beddow, Broadcasting and Cable Executive, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in broadcasting.

Holding 50 years of experience in broadcasting, satellite, cable and feature film production, technology and management, Mr. Beddow credits his passion for the industry to his grandfather, who was a journalist in his own right. From 2012 to 2019 he operated his own company, Technology Equity Associates, which provided consulting services in the entertainment and consumer electronics industries to such major clients as Philips Consumer Electronics, Liberty Media, Paramount Pictures and Warner Brothers. Mr. Beddow was also a board member and chief technology officer of Digiboo LLC and a board member of Bit-Central from 2006 to 2019.

Previously, Mr. Beddow served as the executive vice president and chief operating officer of Movielink LLC, owned by Paramount, Warner Bros, Sony Pictures and MGM, from 2003 to 2006. Three years earlier, he was the founder, president and chief executive officer of Ascent Media Corporation, a Liberty company involved in post-production and studio services. Prior to working at Ascent, Mr. Beddow served as the executive vice president of AT&T Broadband, the founder, president and chief executive officer of TCI National Digital Television Center and the chief technology officer for TCI and Liberty Media between 1994 and 2000. Mr. Beddow had also worked as the executive vice president and chief operating officer of Tell-Communications and Primestar Partners LP in the early 1990s.

During the earliest stages of his career, Mr. Beddow held various positions at Communications Satellite Corporation (COMSAT) in Washington, D.C., during the 1980s. These positions included president of COMSAT Technical Services and president of COMSAT Video Enterprises. Mr. Beddow joined Westinghouse Broadcasting and Cable in 1968 and served in various positions, including as the senior vice president and general manager of KYW-TV, Philadelphia, senior vice president of Group W Broadcast Operations and Engineering and the executive vice president GWSC, which in partnership with several other major media companies created the Disney Channel, the Nashville Network, Satellite News Channels and Home Team Sports.

To remain aware of his industry, Mr. Beddow maintains his membership with the Society of Motion Pictures Television Engineers. Despite his retirement due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he hopes to remain active in his field, as he has always striven to stand on the cutting edge of technology. Dubbed as one of the first early executives to introduce electronic journalism, he earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Florida in 1964. Looking toward the future, Mr. Beddow aims to focus on writing a book and expanding upon his poetry.
