Bill J. Lyons, chairman and CEO of Lyons HR, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in corporate management.
Mr. Lyons is the chairman and CEO of Lyons HR, one of the country’s largest privately-held professional employer organizations. Founded in March of 1995, the company provides outsourced human resources services for small- and medium-sized businesses and was designated a professional employer organization in 2008. Mr. Lyons holds undergraduate degrees in communications from Freed-Hardeman University and accounting from the University of North Carolina and earned his Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee in 1992. He began his career as an accountant and cost analyst for the Sara Lee Corporation, leaving the company in 1992.
Before starting Lyons HR, Mr. Lyons served as CFO of a local manufacturing company and managing director of Birmingham-based investment banking firm. He is a Certified Management Accountant and Certified Business Counselor, and the author of “We Are HR,” in addition to appearing on a number of podcasts. Mr. Lyons credits his success to his ability to recognize a gap in the market and assemble a strong and diverse team of employees, as well as his ongoing commitment to providing value for the firm’s clients. Outside his work, Mr. Lyons is an active volunteer with the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, his area’s Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the board of the University of North Alabama Foundation. He looks forward to exploring the future of Lyons HR with the possibility of expanded service offerings or the potential to become a legacy business run by his sons.
