Karen Leslie Simon, president and managing partner of the Fort Worth/Tarrant County Division of Emerson’s Commercial Management US LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in commercial real estate.

Ms. Simon began her career as an executive with the Department of Housing and Urban Development in charge of public relations and intergovernmental relations for a five-state region. Unable to hold a real estate agent license as it would have been a conflict of interest, she ultimately decided to study to become a broker in an effort to follow her newfound passion for real estate. She is the first woman in Tarrant or Dallas County to practice industrial real estate and the first female broker to be named the highest industrial producer in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Additionally, she is credited with founding the Commercial Real Estate Women’s Organization in Tarrant County, the first organization for women in commercial real estate in 1987.

Ms. Simon holds a Bachelor of Science in education from the University of Texas at Austin, a Master’s degree in American history, and has completed additional doctoral coursework at Texas Christian University. Early in her real estate career, she found success as the senior vice president of the Industrial and Land Division of Henry S. Miller/Grubb & Ellis and was named president of The R.E. Group Advisors, Inc., Polo Club Enterprises, Inc. and the Industrial and Land Division of The Woodmont Company. Before moving into her current position, Ms. Simon served as executive vice president and managing partner of Bradford Commercial Real Estate Services and was the president and principal of TIG DFW Metroplex West, The Innovative Group Real Estate Services.

Over the course of her career, Ms. Simon has maintained professional affiliations with organizations such as the Urban Land Institute, the International Council of Shopping Centers Convention, the Fort Worth Board of Realtors, the Texas Association of Realtors and Commercial Real Estate Women. For her additional contributions in the field, she is honored to have been regarded as one of the Top 100 People in Real Estate by the Top 100 Magazine, One of the Most Influential Women in Texas by the National Diversity Council, a Bradford Companies’ Top Producer on four different occasions, a Businesswoman of the Year by the Texas State Women’s Chamber of Commerce, a #4 Heavy Hitter in Land Brokerage and One of the Great Women of Texas by the Dallas Business Journal List. Moreover, she is proud to have been selected for inclusion in Who’s Who in Business for being one of the Decision Makers and Heavy Hitters in Tarrant County by The Business Press.
