Company: McKesson/The US Oncology Network
Location: Spring, Texas, United States
Lou Ciancia, director of construction management for McKesson/The US Oncology Network, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in building and construction services.
In his current role, Mr. Ciancia serves as the owner’s representative, assisting developers and brokers in finding suitable locations for expansion, overseeing each project from beginning to end, and hiring architects, engineers and contractors. Moreover, he is heavily involved in the creation of project designs, schematics, and construction documents. Though much of his work centers on the pharmaceutical manufacturing and distribution industry, Mr. Ciancia has experience with ground-up construction, remodels, and equipment change-outs. He considers one of the highlights of his career to be constructing cancer centers in rural areas to provide oncology treatment for people that otherwise would not be able to access it.
Inspired by his father to enter the building trades, Mr. Ciancia pursued an apprenticeship in carpentry and became a project manager after completing additional coursework in real estate and business management. In addition to his work with McKesson, Mr. Ciancia has taught at San Jacinto Junior College and been a project manager for AT&T, Compact Computer, and PM Realty. Mr. Ciancia is a black belt in Taekwondo, Shotokan, and Hapkido, and teaches martial arts classes in his personal time. Above all, he attributes his success to his ability to negotiate.
