Steven T. Turnbull, Director of Operations at Lowell Area Schools, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in education and engineering.
Mr. Turnbull was named Director of Operations for Alma Public Schools in 2001, drawing on 20 years of experience in the public school system. He remained with Alma Public Schools until 2008, when he was recruited to the same position by Lowell Area Schools. Mr. Turnbull is licensed in HVAC and refrigeration in nine different U.S. states, as well as holds six mechanical state licenses and two federal licenses. Prior to embarking upon his career, he attended Ferris State University, where he earned an associate degree in HVAC in 1981 and a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering in 2001.
Between 1982 and 2006, Mr. Turnbull served in the United States Army, the United States Army Reserve, and the United States Army National Guard. He was discharged at the rank of first sergeant. Outside of his primary work endeavors, he has been a mechanical technician at Greenbelts Schools, as well as an HVAC mechanical contractor. Civically active as well, he has volunteered at various local churches and is a supporter of Spectrum Health.
Mr. Turnbull is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and Michigan School Business Officials. In 2000, he was honored by the ASHRAE, who published one of his designs in the World Designs Competition. Among the highlights of his career, Mr. Turnbull is exceptionally proud of his two adult children, who have both persevered and attained success in their lives. Looking forward, he intends to ease into retirement and work with other distinguished veterans. Particularly, he would like to help young soldiers return successfully to civilian life and pursue a path for success.
