Justin W. Urrizaga, district manager at Summit Food Services, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in institutional food service.
Since 2018, Mr. Urrizaga has been a district manager for Summit Food Services, a wholesale provider of food service products and staff to correctional facilities across the Western United States. As district manager, Mr. Urrizaga supervises logistics, staffing, and menu development for 12 county correctional facilities in Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah, visiting each on a monthly basis to coordinate services with local employees and nutritionists. Mr. Urrizaga has spent more than 11 years with Summit Food Services in a variety of leadership roles, and in 2019 the company recognized his service with an award presented through their Seeds of Success program.
Prior to joining Summit Food Services, Mr. Urrizaga spent eight years in the construction industry as a roofer. He made the transition to the food service industry hoping to avoid the seasonal nature of construction work, and found his passion in working for correctional facilities. Mr. Urrizaga helps manage Summit Food Services’ Pathways program, which offers inmates the opportunity to receive culinary training and ServSafe certification to help them reintegrate and find jobs after release, and he is a ServSafe Certification test proctor for the National Restaurant Association. Outside his work, Mr. Urrizaga enjoys spending time outdoors with his dogs and three children, working on his 1967 Chevy van, and volunteering with Wigs for Kids.
