Barbara D. Binkley, President at Leather Extraordinaire, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in medicine and fashion.
Dr. Binkley recalls she always loved fashion but ultimately chose to pursue a career in the medical field in order to provide for herself and her family. Upon earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Wayne State University, she excelled as a registered nurse for Sinai-Grace Hospital for many years. Later, she attained a Doctor of Medicine in general medicine from Michigan State University and conducted postgraduate work in radiation-oncology at Sinai-Grace Hospital. Throughout her career in medicine, Dr. Binkley participated in radiology, cancer research and had served as a consultant in privately contracted work. She currently maintains membership with the American Nursing Association and the American Medical Association.
In the second half of her career, Dr. Binkley chose to revisit her passion for fashion and has since found great success as the president of Leather Extraordinaire. Specializing in leather and leather apparel, she and the team at Leather Extraordinaire use European leathers as concepts for coats and pants. Dr. Binkley attributes her vast success to her ability to survive. She had always believed that wherever you are, you have to make choices on how to reach the end of the game, no matter what you do. As a woman, her goal was to always provide for herself and follow her path independently. Looking ahead, Dr. Binkley aims to continue to conduct volunteer work in medicine while also focusing on building her skills in fashion to develop and cultivate innovative ways of utilizing the finest leather materials.
