Gloria Mensah, Executive Director at GK Folks Foundation, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in business development and mentorship.
Since 2010, Ms. Mensah has excelled as the executive director of GK Folks Foundation, a nonprofit based in West Jordan whose mission is to provide life-changing workshops and resources to African immigrants while promoting Africa’s diverse regional cultures, histories, and heritage. The organization’s efforts are focused on providing mental health, educational and entrepreneurial resources, workshops and opportunities to students and emerging professionals of African descent.
Previously, Ms. Mensah worked as director of communications of United Africans of Utah, enrollment counselor with Western Government University in Salt Lake City and admissions officer of the MBA online program with the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in communications from Utah Valley University in 2012 and continued her education with a Master of Business Administration from Western Government University in 2016.
Ms. Mensah attributes her success to the example of her mother, a former Minister of Education in Nigeria. After initially desiring a career in journalism and interning as a reporter, she realized that she had a passion for cultural engagement and volunteerism. After watching several friends struggle to finance their educations, she was inspired to set up a foundation dedicated to showcasing African culture and giving back to African immigrants who were struggling to go to school. Ms. Mensah is determined to grow GK Folks Foundation and positively impact the lives of more Black people in Utah, Idaho, Arizona, and Nevada.
