Title: Fire Chief
Company: Sacramento Fire Department
Location: Sacramento, California, United States
Gary Loesch, Fire Chief at Sacramento Fire Department, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in emergency services administration.
After joining the Philadelphia Fire Department in 1985 with experience in the United States Army, Chief Loesch ascended through the ranks to Lieutenant, Captain and Fire Battalion Chief throughout the following 30 years, commanding over 2,700 firefighters and first responders. The PFD drew on Chief Loesch’s expertise and selected him to head the Philadelphia Fire Academy’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program, which funds critically needed resources to equip and train emergency personnel, enhance efficiencies and support community resilience.
Since 2018, Chief Loesch has excelled as an administrator with the Sacramento Fire Department, overseeing over 700 firefighters and first responders, joining crews on fire and emergency calls and supervising fire suppression, wildland response and the mitigation of hazardous materials. He further serves as Chief of Urban Search and Rescue California Task Force 7, an elite disaster response team established by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
Chief Loesch attributes his success to his upbringing and the influence of his grandfather. He would like to be remembered as a “good firefighter” that left his companies “a little better than when he found them.” In coming years, he is looking forward to a well-deserved retirement.
