Robert West, President at Informal Learning Experiences, Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in museum administration and paleontology.
A distinguished research paleontologist, Dr. West has excelled as the president and owner of Informal Learning Experiences, Inc. since 1992. As a non-profit in the museum administration sphere, he works with a great variety of museums and applies different approaches to how they deal with educating the public. Likewise, he has published paleontology and geology journals, as well as various education and museum magazines and journals.
During his studies at Lawrence College in Appleton, Wisconsin, where he was the recipient of a college award, Dr. West recalls multiple educators who inspired him to delve into geological paleontological fieldwork, which ultimately led him to work in museums. In 1968, he obtained a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Chicago. Today, he remains a member of the Association of American Alliance of Museums and a board member of the National Center for Science Education. Attributing his success to his desire to satisfy the broad need in the museum industry, Dr. West is delighted and honored to be in a field where he is continuously learning, as he has learned from numerous perspectives as a researcher, administrator and consultant. His motto is, “Busy is better than bored.”
