Robert J. Oxford, President of Industrial Gas Services, Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the energy industry.
Mr. Oxford is a petroleum engineering and industrial gas entrepreneur with more than five decades of experience in the energy industry. Born and raised in an oil and gas production hub near Lake Charles, Louisiana, Mr. Oxford was exposed to the field at a young age. He was awarded a scholarship by the Mobil Oil Corporation in 1952, and earned a Bachelor of Science in petroleum engineering at Louisiana State University in 1956. He began his career with Mobil Oil Corporation after graduation, rising to become a division gas development supervisor by the time of his departure in 1968. Mr. Oxford was named president of the McCullough Gas Transmission and McCullough Gas Processing Companies the following year, and would remain with both until 1971, when he decided to relocate to Colorado to pursue an independent business venture.
In 1972, Mr. Oxford started Industrial Gas Services, Inc. with John Shannon, one of his early mentors in the energy industry. Mr. Oxford remains the chief executive officer of Industrial Gas Services, Inc., and is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, and spent 17 additional years as a navigator with the Wyoming International Guard. Throughout his career, Mr. Oxford has had the opportunity to travel throughout Southeast Asia, Europe, and Northern Africa, and he spent eight years as a trustee of the Southern Baptist Organization’s International Mission Board. He is a deacon and Bible teacher at the Applewood Baptist Church, where he has been an active congregant since 1971. Mr. Oxford credits his success to the support of his high school sweetheart and wife of more than 50 years.
