Dr. Van A. Mobley, President at Village of Thiensville, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in local government.

Distinguished for his active role in local government, Dr. Mobley has been elected to four successive terms as Village President (Mayor) of Thiensville, Wisconsin. Under his leadership, Thiensville has been ranked among the best places to live in the country and during the Covid-19 Pandemic never declared a state of emergency. Thiensville was one of the few municipalities in the country to hold its annual July 4th parade in 2020. Prior to his election as Village President, Dr. Mobley served on the Thiensville Village Board as a trustee.

In addition to his political role, Dr. Mobley has been an associate professor at Concordia University Wisconsin since 2001. Alongside his academic work, which focuses on 18th and 19th-century economic theorists like Adam Smith and Henry Carey, he has written a regular column for the Ozaukee News Graphic, numerous op-eds for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Wispolitics, and other Wisconsin publications. He has also made numerous appearances on news outlets such as the BBC, NPR, CNN, and MSNBC.

Earlier, Dr. Mobley served as managing partner of Do-Mo Capital Management from 2008 to 2011. He has also served on the board of Commerce State Bank and is currently an active real estate investor. Dr. Mobley attributes his past, current and future success to hard work and good fortune. Today, he maintains affiliation with the Society of Military Historians, Society of Historians of American Foreign Relations, Rotary Club, First Immanuel Lutheran Church and local Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Mobley is backed by a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Vanderbilt University from 1990 and a Doctor of Philosophy in history from the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1999. He was also a fellow at the United States Military Academy’s summer seminar in military history. Looking toward the future, he is considering running for governor and is planning to better serve Thiensville by improving the fire department and police force.
