Since 2002, Mr. Moua has excelled as a replenishment buyer for United Natural Foods, Inc (UNFI), a Providence, Rhode Island-based natural and organic food company and the largest publicly traded wholesale distributor of health and specialty food in the United States and Canada. In this role, he purchases products and tracks their movement in the days thereafter. Mr. Moua’s areas of expertise include leadership solutions, purchasing materials, supply chains, networking, quality assurance and strategic sourcing and procurement. He is responsible for $80-100 million products purchased per year and has consistently met or exceeded expectations for service levels, aging inventories and overstocks inventories over the past 10 years.
Mr. Moua immigrated to the United States in 1976. After initially obtaining a Bachelor of Science in biology with a minor in chemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in 1987, he later continued his education with a Master of Science in food science and nutrition from the University of Wisconsin-Stout in 1995.
While with Radix Laboratories from 1987 to 1988, Mr. Moua successfully developed quality procedures for admitting and releasing raw materials, sampling and testing raw materials and finishing products for chemical and biological tests. Mr. Moua subsequently prospered as a quality supervisor and technician with Nestle Carnation from 1988 to 1990, where he developed and implemented procedures in sampled, inspected and tested raw material and in-process and finished products for various biological and chemical elements. Mr. Moua subsequently flourished as a research assistant and senior lab technologist for the International Organization for Migration (IOM) from 1993 to 1994 and as an inventory manager with Copps Corporation from 1995 to 2001.
Mr. Moua considers his career highlights the ability to work with people in multi-level career responsibilities from a small company CEO, a broker sales representative to the warehouse receiver, a truck driver or a store ordering staff, as well as keeping service levels at 97 percent or above, keep spoilage low throughout the year and keep inventory low at fiscal year-end.
