After earning an associate’s degree in criminal justice in 2014 from Eastern Kentucky University, Mr. Bennett served in the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office for five years. He is certified as a K-9 instructor and in crisis intervention team training, and acquired his SRO I in 2021 and his SRO II in 2022 with an intention to obtain an SRO III in 2023. He also cites his experience as a volunteer firefighter as sparking his interest in public safety and the inspiration of his career as a school resource officer. As a career highlight, he cites his years as a Drug Abuse Resistance Education instructor in an education program that seeks to prevent use of controlled drugs, membership in gangs and violent behavior.
