Scott Newell, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Newell Recycling Equipment, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in recycling and scrap equipment manufacturing.
Since 2015, Mr. Newell, with his son Scott Newell III, has prospered as chairman and chief executive officer of Newell Recycling Equipment LLC, which designs, engineers, subcontract manufacturers, installs and then train operators of shredding plants and nonferrous separation equipment. He brings 50 years of innovation, with hundreds of revolutionary breakthroughs that have given him a great advantage in innovative engineering and in building the world’s best metal shredding plants and replacement parts.
In the early 1960s, Mr. Newell’s father Alton Newell invented the modern automobile and scrap metal shredder and Mr. Newell served as manager of the Newell Salvage Company in Phoenix from 1959 to 1965. He has subsequently served as executive vice president of Last Step Recycling, which processes automotive shredder residue to capture various metals, which are then used to manufacture automobiles, appliances and other equipment, and vice chairman of China Recycling Newell Equipment, Ltd.
Mr. Newell has lent his professional expertise to the national board of directors of the Institute of Scrap Iron and Steel and is an officer in the ferrous division of the shredder committees of the Institute of
Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) and the World Scrap Dealers Association. In addition, he has authored more than 100 industry-related papers and presentations. For his efforts in the recycling industry, Mr. Newell was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award by ISRI in 2015, which he considers to be a career highlight.
Mr. Newell attributes his success to his energy, curiosity, reading, studying, and researching for his speeches and presentations. His mind never rested, which enabled him to become a repository of important knowledge. In the immediate future, he is concentrating on growing his latest company, Last Step recycling.
