Joseph E. Prochilo, MBA, President at Wheelingthrough.com, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in business.
Mr. Prochilo attended Salem State University in Massachusetts from 1979 to 1985 to procure his bachelor’s degree in political science and history. Later, he was enrolled at Clark University School of Management in Worcester, Massachusetts from 1999 to 2004 to obtain his Master of Business Administration. He began his career in 1994 with a position at First Data Corporation, a financial company based in Atlanta, Georgia. From 2000 to 2003, he was an intermediate business systems analyst.
Mr. Prochilo has also found success as a consultant, a principal information systems analyst and a senior business systems analyst. He has been active as the president of Wheelingthrough.com since 2017. He is also the chairperson of the Accessibility Advisory Commission of Worcester, Massachusetts.
In 1971, Mr. Prochilo had a vaccine that he had a reaction to that left him paralyzed. The paralysis changed his life and outlook significantly going from a non-disabled to disabled individual in a matter of days. Since then he has used a wheelchair and conducted lectures about his experience at medical schools as well as lectures about disability etiquette and other disability-related topics. He presented his first workshop at Harvard Medical School in 1977, which included putting medical students in wheelchairs and literally taking them around city streets. The workshops made an impression and today, he is the owner of a company that addresses the needs of disabled people.
Determination is the key to Mr. Prochilo’s success. His unique perspective, that of being an able-bodied person who became disabled, sets him apart from his peers.
