Dr. Jones has excelled as a distinguished physician who is a child and adolescent psychiatrist as well as a forensic psychiatrist. She was awarded a Women in Medicine Award for Top Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist 2021. In addition, Dr. Jones also received the 2021 Doctor of the Year in Top 100 Registry of Business Leaders and Professionals.
After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in biology and vertebrate physiology from The Pennsylvania State University, magna cum laude, Dr. Jones followed with a Bachelor of Science in biology, with an honors degree in African and African American Studies from Penn State in 1999. She continued her education with a Medical Doctor from Penn State College of Medicine in 2004, magna cum laude.
Dr. Jones then served a residency in psychiatry and a chief residency in emergency psychiatry from 2004 to 2008, a fellowship in forensic psychiatry from 2013 to 2014 with Montefiore Medical Center at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry with Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn from 2017 to 2019. Currently, she is studying toward a Master of Business Administration with a concentration on entrepreneurship. Dr. Jones is certified in forensic psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc. and in general psychiatry, by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc.
Dr. Jones has provided superior care as an attending physician with Coney Island Hospital and the Bronx Psychiatric Center from 2014 to 2017 and from Montefiore Health System from 2013 to the present. With Montefiore, she served as associate program director of the forensic psychiatry fellowship from 2015 to 2017 and has imparted her knowledge as an associate professor with SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn from 2020 to the present. In addition, Dr. Jones has prospered as a child and adolescent psychiatrist with NYU Grossman School of Medicine and with the Bellevue Juvenile System from 2021 to the present. Her professional memberships include the American Psychiatric Association, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law (AAPL), the American Academy for Emergency Psychiatry (AAEP) and the American Medical Association.
In 2020, Dr. Jones founded Empowerment Changes Everything LLC, an organization that seeks to assist children and adolescents with attention deficit obstacles, extreme mood alterations, problems pertaining to learning and trauma and COVID-19 associated PTSD. Empowerment Changes Everything also specializes in treating children with development disabilities such as the autism spectrum.
Dr. Jones attributes her success to her strong faith, which got her through medical school. Her extensive volunteer experience in the U.S., Haiti, and Guatemala exposed Dr. Jones to the realities of how difficult it is to access proper healthcare. She decided to pursue a career in medicine to help as many people as she can, then she decided to go back to school to earn her fellowship in child psychology so she can serve children better. She has worked with various government agencies, non-profit organizations, and charities to make healthcare more accessible.
In the near future, Dr, Jones hopes to finish her book entitled, “Now I Know Why I’m Angry.” In the coming years, she hopes to be more financially stable so she can do more motivational speaking around the world.
