Since 2017, Dr. Burk has found much success as Director of Technical Services, Fayette Industrial Sanitation in La Crosse, Wisconsin, where he oversees all aspects of the organizational Safety and Food Safety programs including: OSHA compliance, USDA compliance, FDA compliance, policy development, policy implementation, training and management of department personnel and resources. In addition, he periodically reviews customer accounts to ensure performance metrics are met and customers are satisfied while promoting positive relationships with customers and plants by providing technical advice and assistance as necessary.
After obtaining an Associate of Arts in 1998 and a Bachelor of Science in business/computer information Systems in 2000, Dr. Burke then earned a MS in computer information systems in 2003 all from the University of Phoenix. He continued his education with a Master of Business Administration in business/human resource management from American InterContinental University in Schaumburg, Illinois in 2003.
In 2010, Dr. Burke returned to the University of Phoenix, where he earned a Doctor of Management in 2014. He later completed his education with a Master of Science in environmental safety and health from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 2021. His certifications include as a Safety and Health Official (CSHO) and in Public Sector Safety and Health Fundamentals (PSSHF) from the OSHA Safety Training Institute.
During his professional career, Dr. Burk has flourished as operations manager with The Organic Meat Company from 2006 to 2012, where his responsibilities included overall responsibility for production at 14 production facilities, production planning and supervision of movement of raw materials from storage facilities to production plants. From 2012 to 2017, he served as technical manager with the Birko Corporation, a leading chemical manufacturing company, where he evaluated customer operations with regard to sanitation and food safety practices throughout the U.S.
Dr. Burk attributes his success to hard work and having the right leaders who have helped guide him in his career over the years. They were the ones who helped him make the right decisions to push his career the right directions. Serving his country in the military as a food inspection specialist led him to his current line of work, and he considers his time commanding units in in Iraq, Thailand and other countries to be a career highlight. In the coming years, Dr. Burk is looking toward a well-deserved retirement.
