Susan K. Sharp, Retired Inmate Grievance Supervisor at New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in business.
Ms. Sharp served the people of New York as an inmate grievance supervisor in the New York State Department of Corrections after studying criminal justice for many years. She was deployed overseas as a servicemember with the U.S. Army, serving the country for 24 years. Attached to the 401st Airborne Division, the Screaming Eagles, she served in Iraq with the rank of Sergeant First Class. Decorated for her service multiple times, she is the recipient of several medals, some of which she received multiple times.
Ms. Sharp attended the State University of New York, Erie in 1987. She continued her education in 2010 through the University of Phoenix, earning a an associate degree and then a bachelor’s in criminal justice. In 2012, she secured her master’s in criminal justice through the University of Phoenix. She is active as a member of the National Notary Association and the National Honor Society. She also volunteers her time and energy to support the Disabled American Veterans National Service Foundation, National First Responder’s Fund, Disabled American Veterans, Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and SPCA International.
Corrections always appealed to Ms. Sharp as a career path that tests her problem-solving skills. She attributes her career success to her determination and her natural willingness to learn. She plans to continue learning in the near future and hopes to earn her doctorate degree in the next few years. One day, she will write a book about her life and some of the people she met along her journey.
