Melessa Sargent, President at Scriptwriters Network, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in providing educational support for entertainment writers.
Currently, Ms. Sargent is providing superior service as president of Scriptwriters Network, an educational, tax-exempt non-profit, volunteer-driven organization created by writers for writers and industry professionals. The Network serves its members by providing educational programming, enhancing their awareness of the realities of the business, developing access and opportunity through alliances with industry professionals and furthering the cause and quality of writing in the entertainment industry by bringing in industry professionals to address the art, craft and business of scriptwriting for television, features and new media. Under Ms. Sargent’s direction, Scriptwriters Network has won the Los Angeles Award for education every year from 2014 to 2017 and the Top-Rated Non-Profit Award in 2013. After beginning as a volunteer with the organization in 1986, Ms. Sargent moved steadily to executive director and finally president.
Trained as a dancer in ballet, tap and jazz and as a print model for fashion magazines, Ms. Sargent was a regional winner of the Star Search television competition. Possessing experience both behind and in front of the camera, acting in commercials and dramatic roles, she has also produced and written the following TV shows: “Missing: Have You Seen Me?”, “Our Mysterious Island” and “Pictures.” Ms. Sargent has composed several feature and television scripts, including a family drama and a TV pilot. In the coming years, she intends to produce more of her own work and to help those who have new voices and fresh perspectives, as well as continue to work with top consultants and speakers working in the industry to teach about the art, craft and business of scriptwriting.
