Mr. James is the executive director for Proviso Area for Exceptional Children Center School in Maywood, Illinois, serving in this position since 2021. Previously, he was the interim executive director for the school in 2021 and from 2017 to 2021, the assistant director. He led the school as its principal from 2016 to 2017. Prior to this, he was the assistant principal for Bellwood School District 88 in Illinois from 2009 to 2016. He worked in the school system as a director of guidance counseling, a head clinician and an assistant principal.
Mr. James completed coursework at the Institute Language and Culture French in Paris, France in 1990. He subsequently attended Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan for his Bachelor of Arts in sociology in 1993. He earned his Master of Social Work at Loyola University Chicago in 1999 and a Master of Arts in educational leadership at Aurora University in Illinois in 2006. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership and administration from Concordia University Chicago in River Forest, Illinois.
In his varied career, Mr. James has also been a substitute teacher assistant and worked as a family therapist from 1995 to 2001. He is also a photographer and takes photos under the company banner James Photography, something he’s been doing since 1994. He plans to continue to lead the way forward to educate students in the coming years.
