Vernell Shaheed-Levrone, Director of Public Safety at Community College of Baltimore County, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in security management.
After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Management and a master’s degree in management from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Ms. Shaheed-Levrone joined the Baltimore County Police Department (BCPD), where she served from 1980 to 2010, attaining the rank of lieutenant. There, she provided superior service as commander of the family crimes unit and as a department expert on domestic violence. In addition, she was a member of the Domestic Violence Coordinating Council, Fatality Review Board, and the Lieutenant Governor’s Council for Domestic Violence. Ms. Shaheed-Levrone prospered from 2010 to 2013 as an adjunct instructor with Carroll County Community College, where she taught criminology, juvenile justice and law enforcement relationships with the community. She then made an impact as director of career services with MD Central, Work Opportunities Unlimited from 2011 to 2015, in which she coached, mentored, trained, and evaluated the career resource specialist (CRS) team, including modeling business development activities.
Since 2015, Ms. Shaheed-Levrone has excelled as assistant director and later director of public safety with Community College of Baltimore County, where she is responsible for the safety for all three main campuses and six expansion centers. Ms. Shaheed-Levrone attributes her success to her dedication, commitment, and competitiveness. Throughout the course of Ms. Shaheed-Levrone’s career, the highlight that stood out the most was her work in creating the Family Crimes Unit with the BCPD, which handled thousands of domestic incidents and helped families resolve their bad situations and assisted in saving many people’s lives. The recipient of numerous community honors and the founder of A Healthy Choice Vending, a quality service offering healthy snack and drink options in vending machines, Ms. Shaheed-Levrone is looking forward to a well-deserved retirement in the coming years.
